Sierpe is the gateway to the Térraba-Sierpe Pantanal, the largest mangrove reserve in Latin America. Some of the largest mangroves in the world grow here. Its network of exposed roots keeps tree trunks above the water with ebb tides, giving the impression of floating trees.

The wetland is located at the junction of the Térraba and Sierpe rivers and is home to an incredible selection of birds, reptiles and animals. A boat ride will give you the chance to see monkeys, alligators and alligators. Birds are plentiful here, so get your binoculars ready; you won’t want to miss the beautiful kingfisher and its bright colors. Also keep an eye out for herons, as they usually wait very patiently for fish moving along the roots.
